Three Decades of Print, Built on One Standard
VST began with one man and a trade he learned young. S. M. Vedhachalam started out as a pre-press operator, mastering the craft of preparing work for the press by hand. In time he set up his own plate-making company, and from there took the natural next step into offset printing. What started as a single operator's skill grew, year by year, into a full-scale book manufacturing house.
That company is VST Associated Graphics Pvt. Ltd., incorporated in Chennai in 1989. Over three and a half decades it has grown from those first plates into a press that has printed more than a thousand unique titles — novels, textbooks, journals, and hardcover editions — for authors, publishers, and institutions across India.
What hasn't changed is the standard the work is held to. S. M. Vedhachalam still leads the company and remains hands-on across the floor — overseeing production down to the finest detail, the same way he did from the very first job.
